The interregional festival ‘Belomorye’ will be held in the Tersky region on July 6 and 7!
Tersky region is the cradle of Pomor culture. For two days on the shores of the White Sea, folk songs will be heard in the village of Umba. An integral part of the festival is the “City of Masters”, where masters of wood carving, weaving products from wicker, birch bark, patchwork, embroidery, making folk toys and traditional Pomeranian roe will demonstrate their skills.
The purpose of the holiday ispreservation and development of the original traditions and customs of the Pomors.
The program includes performances by folk groups, folk games and round dances, a fair of folk craftsmen, food from Pomeranian cuisine and master classes.
In 2024, the festival will be held at several venues:
– “Song Circle” (concert performances of groups on the main stage)
– “Northern Games” (a platform for traditional games and rituals, ethnographic fashion theater)
– “City of Craftsmen” (folk crafts, master classes from artisans)
– “Upper Room of Knowledge” (public educational lectures)
– “Fair of Taste” (traditional northern cuisine)
– “Sea of Cultures” (a meeting place for ethnobloggers and travel bloggers)

July 6 (Saturday)
13:00 – meeting guests on the bridge over the Umba River
14:00 – grand opening of the festival
14.30 – opening of festival grounds
19.30 – Pomeranian evening (concert where traditional and modern creativity are combined)
July 7 (Sunday)
14:00 – festival venues start working
20:00 – closing of the festival
Each viewer will have the opportunity to touch folk art, and craftsmen and folk craftsmen will share the secrets of their applied art. The holiday draws attention to folk rituals, customs, games, arts and crafts, which reflect the spiritual beauty and strength of the people.
