The memorial “Sailors who died in peacetime”

The memorial “Sailors who died in peace”, representing the whole complex, is located on a hill in Murmansk, not far from the Marine Orthodox Church of the Savior on the Waters. The opening in 2002 is timed to the day of the city.

The complex includes a lighthouse tower, a ship anchor and the cabin of the Kursk nuclear submarine.

The dominant place in the composition is occupied by a hexagonal tower made in the form of a lighthouse (17.5 m). Within the walls of the tower is a memory gallery with memorial plates and books in memory of the dead sailors, where today more than one and a half thousand names are recorded.
