The Festival of the North 2016 in Lovozero

The festival programme is extensive and available for everyone. The stadium will house national dwelling of the Saami – kovacsi, under the canopy which will house a colorful fair of masters of decorative and applied arts of the indigenous peoples of the North, and tents with hot meals, performances by folk groups.
Everyone can try their hand on a ski slope, feel the agile reindeer herder or a hunter, throwing the lasso on ferrets or shooting a crossbow. Participants will be offered to compete in strength and skill, joining the battle with the rival national wrestling. And, of course, to cheer on the professional herders competing in races on the reindeer.
The event is aimed at the preservation and development of national cultures of the peoples of the North, winter popularization of national sports, attracting people to regular physical training and sports, as well as creative initiative of the population of the district.
