From 6 to 11 October in the Regional Scientific Library will be held film screenings of contemporary French films. All films will be shown in French with Russian subtitles.

– October 6, 16:00 – “Great Minds” (2017, comedy)
Francois Foucault is forty years old. He is an associate professor in the field of literature at the prestigious Lyceum in Paris. But events force him to accept a transfer to a suburban college. He fears the worst. It is fair.

– October 7, 16:00 – “Polina” (2016, drama)
Polina is a girl from a modest Russian family who dreams of becoming a famous ballerina. Her parents are doing everything possible for their daughter to dance on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater. Mom carries her daughter to dance lessons, dad does not disdain to engage in crime in order to make ends meet. By the will of fate, Pauline finds herself in Paris. Her parents believe that she went on tour, but in reality the girl leaves, falling in love, and at the same time wanting to try herself in modern dance.

Mediterranean coast, Marseille, the Kennedy Corniche. Young and reckless Marco, Mehdi, Frank, Melissa, Hamza, Mama and Julie defy the laws of gravity. To temper your temper, boys and girls take a risk by diving into the water off a cliff. From the balcony of a luxurious villa, they are watched by Susanna, a girl from a good family who dreams like them to live a life filled with freedom and adrenaline. Despite her mother’s persuasion, Suzanna joins the company of young divers, but the situation gets out of control when teenagers are involved in a criminal history.

Meeting with eleven teenagers living in disadvantaged areas of France. The film shows their original and unexpected view of the world, funny and striking reflections.

– October 11, 6 pm – “Barbara” (2017, drama, biography)
For France, Barbara is one of the largest pop stars of the 1960s, working with Jacques Brel and Johnny Holliday. The actor and stage director Mathieu Amalric has made a film biography about her, where reality is intertwined with fiction. Bridget is preparing for the role of the famous French singer Barbara. The actress is working on the character, gestures, manners and intonation of the diva. Learning scores, adopting facial expressions – and more and more merges with the character. The director is also preparing for the shooting: studying archival footage, is engaged in the selection of music. He is inspired and even obsessed, but Barbara – or her embodiment?
