In July 1940 by the decision of the National Commissioner of the Navy from active participants of Amateur performances at the House of the red Army and Navy in the Arctic were organized song and dance ensemble.

The basis of the ensemble’s repertoire includes works of composers about the sea, the North, russian and foreign classics. Many famous composers and poets wrote their works especially for the ensemble, and the song of E. Zharkovskogo and N. Bukina “Farewell, rocky mountains” became the anthem of the sailors of the Northern Navy, entered the Golden Fund of national song classics.
